Alpha-Pure, This All-Penetrating Awareness[1]

by Sera Khandro

ཀ་དག་རིག་པ་ཟང་ཐལ་འདི། །
ཁ་དོག་ལས་འདས་འོད་གསལ་ངང༌། །
ག་ལེར་མ་བཅོས་རང་བབས་ཀློང༌། །
ངར་འཛིན་མདུད་རྒྱ་དབྱིངས་སུ་བོར། །

Alpha-pure, this all-penetrating awareness,
Beyond colour, an experience of clear light—
Calmly, naturally, in space that's uncontrived,
Disentangle and release knots of self-clinging.[2]

མ་བཅོས་མ་བསྒྱུར་རང་བྱུང་གི །
ཡེ་ཤེས་ཆེན་པོར་ཉམས་བླངས་ན། །
ཀུན་བཟང་དགོངས་པ་མངོན་གྱུར་ནས། །
རང་གནས་འབྲས་བུ་ཨེ་མ་ཧོ། །

When you experience the great, self-arisen
Wisdom that's unaltered and untransformed,
Samantabhadra's intent is made manifest—
The fruition that is naturally present: Emaho!

དེ་སྐད་བླ་མ་སྐྱབས་ཀྱི་ངོར། །
སུ་ཁའི་མིང་གིས་བྲིས་པའོ།།
Thus, the one named Sukha
Wrote this for Lama Kyab.

དགེའོ།།
May it prove virtuous!

  1. The original is untitled; this title has been added by the translator.  ↩

  2. These first four lines are in the form of an acrostic poem, the opening syllables of each line being the first four syllables of the Tibetan alphabet: ཀ་ (ka), ཁ་ (kha), ག་ (ga) and ང་ (nga). The translation aims to reproduce this effect, however unsatisfactorily, in abecedarian form.  ↩
