Praise of Mandāravā
༄༅། །འཆི་མེད་མནྡཱ་ར་བ་ལ་བསྟོད་པ་ཌཱ་ཀི་དགྱེས་པའི་རོལ་མོ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་བཞུགས་སོ། །
Music to Delight the Ḍākinī
A Praise to Deathless Mandāravā

ན་མོ་གུ་རུ་ཛྙཱ་ན་ཌཱ་ཀི་ནྱཻ།
Namo guru jñāna-dākinyai!
ཤིན་ཏུ་རྣམ་པར་དག་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལས། །
shintu nampar dakpé yeshe lé
From completely pristine primordial wisdom
ཟུང་འཇུག་མཚན་དཔའི་སྣང་ཆར་ཡོངས་ཤར་བ། །
zungjuk tsen pé nangchar yong sharwa
Dawns your unity-form of major and minor marks.
དྲན་པས་ཚེ་དང་ཡེ་ཤེས་མཆོག་སྩོལ་བའི། །
drenpé tsé dang yeshe chok tsolwé
By recalling you, supreme life and wisdom are bestowed—
འཆི་མེད་མནྡཱ་ར་བ་ཁྱོད་ལ་བསྟོད། །
chimé menda rawa khyö la tö
Deathless Mandāravā, to you I offer praise!
ཡིད་འཕྲོག་པདྨ་རཱ་གའི་མཚར་སྡུག་ཅན། །
yitrok pema ragé tsar dukchen
You are mesmerizing, like a beautiful ruby.
སྲིད་དང་ཞི་བ་དབྱེར་མེད་འཛུམ་ཞལ་ལ། །
si dang zhiwa yermé dzum zhal la
Your smiling face is the indivisibility of existence and peace.
རྣམ་ཐར་གསུམ་གྱི་སྤྱན་རས་རབ་གཡོ་བས། །
namtar sum gyi chen ré rab yowé
Your flashing eyes reveal the three doors to liberation,
འགྲོ་ཀུན་འཁོར་བ་སྒྲོལ་མཛད་ཁྱོད་ལ་བསྟོད། །
dro kün khorwa drol dzé khyö la tö
And you free all beings from saṃsāra—to you I offer praise!
ཕྱག་གཡས་ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཆེན་པོའི་གྲི་གུག་གིས། །
chak yé tukjé chenpö driguk gi
With your curved knife of supreme compassion raised aloft in your right hand,
བདུད་བཞིའི་སྙིང་གི་བརྟན་པ་འཕྲོག་ནས་སླར། །
dü zhi nying gi tenpa trok né lar
You steal the hardness from the hearts of the four māras.
གཡོན་པས་བདུད་རྩིས་གང་བའི་ཐོད་བུམ་གྱིས། །
yönpé dütsi gangwé tö bum gyi
And then, with your left hand holding an amṛta-filled skull-cup,
སྒྲུབ་ལ་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ་མཛད་ཁྱོད་ལ་བསྟོད། །
drub la ngödrub tsol dzé khyö la tö
You bestow siddhis upon practitioners—to you I offer praise!
སྐུ་བཞི་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལྔ་ལྡན་ཧེ་རུ་ཀ །
ku zhi yeshe ngaden heruka
Your skillful-means consort is Pema Tötreng Tsal—Mighty Skull-Garland Lotus,
ཐབས་ཀྱི་ཕྱག་རྒྱ་པདྨ་ཐོད་ཕྲེང་རྩལ། །
tab kyi chakgya pema tötreng tsal
Heruka of the four kāyas and the five pristine wisdoms.
ཁ་ཊཱྃ་ཚུལ་གྱིས་གཡོན་ནས་འཁྲིལ་བ་ཡིས། །
kha tam tsul gyi yön né trilwa yi
You cradle him in your left arm in the form of a khaṭvāṅga,
སྙོམས་འཇུག་དགྱེས་པ་སྐྱེད་མཛད་ཁྱོད་ལ་བསྟོད། །
nyom juk gyepa kyé dzé khyö la tö
Arousing the delight of meditative equipoise—to you I offer praise!
གནག་སྣུམ་དབུ་སྐྲ་སིལ་བུར་འཕྱང་བ་ལ། །
nak num utra silbur changwa la
Your shiny black hair falls gracefully down your back
པུ་ཎྜ་རཱི་ཀའི་ཐོད་ཀྱིས་ལེགས་འཆིངས་ཤིང་། །
pundariké tö kyi lek ching shing
And is elegantly bound in a crown of puṇḍarīka flowers.
དར་དང་རིན་ཆེན་རུས་པའི་ཕྱག་རྒྱ་ཡིས། །
dar dang rinchen rüpé chakgya yi
Wearing silks, jewels and the symbolic bone ornaments,
རྟོག་པའི་འཁོར་ལོ་གཅོད་མཛད་ཁྱོད་ལ་བསྟོད། །
tokpé khorlo chö dzé khyö la tö
You cut right through the cycle of thoughts—to you I offer praise!
ཞབས་གཉིས་གཡས་བསྐུམ་སྲིད་ལ་མི་གནས་ཤིང་། །
zhab nyi yé kum si la mi né shing
Your right leg is drawn in, for you dwell not in existence,
གཡོན་བརྐྱངས་ཞི་བའི་མཐའ་རུ་ལྷུང་མིན་པར། །
yön kyang zhiwé ta ru lhung minpar
And your left leg is extended, for you renounce the extreme of peace.
གཟུང་འཛིན་བམ་རོའི་སྙིང་གར་རོལ་པ་ཡིས། །
zungdzin bamrö nyinggar rolpa yi
Dancing upon the heart of a corpse, subject-object duality,
ཟུང་འཇུག་མྱ་ངན་འདས་པ་ཁྱོད་ལ་བསྟོད། །
zungjuk nya ngen depa khyö la tö
Your union transcends all sorrow—to you I offer praise!
གང་སྐུ་མཐོང་བས་གྲུབ་གཉིས་སྡུག་པར་འཇོ། །
gang ku tongwé drub nyi dukpar jo
Seeing your enlightened form bestows the the two types of siddhi.
གསུང་གསང་ཐོས་པས་བདེ་ཆེན་ཡེ་ཤེས་འབར། །
sung sang töpé dechen yeshe bar
Hearing your secret speech causes the wisdom of great bliss to blaze.
དྲན་པ་ཡིས་ཀྱང་ཚེ་ཡི་བར་ཆད་ཀུན། །
drenpa yi kyang tsé yi barché kün
Merely to think of you is enough to dispel all obstacles to longevity.
སེལ་མཛད་མཁའ་འགྲོའི་གཙོ་མོ་ཁྱོད་ལ་བསྟོད། །
sel dzé khandrö tsomo khyö la tö
Foremost of the ḍākinīs, to you I offer praise!
སྣོད་བཅུད་ཟབ་གསལ་གཉིས་མེད་དཀྱིལ་འཁོར་ཆེར། །
nöchü zabsal nyimé kyilkhor cher
The environment and its inhabitants arise in this great maṇḍala as non-dual profound clarity.
ཡོངས་ཤར་བཟླས་པ་སྔགས་ཀྱིས་རྒྱུད་བསྐུལ་ཞིང་། །
yong shar depa ngak kyi gyü kul zhing
By invoking your wisdom mind through mantra recitation
དབྱིངས་རིག་ཟུང་འཇུག་ངང་དུ་མཉམ་བཞག་པས། །
yingrik zungjuk ngang du nyamzhak pé
And resting evenly in the union of basic space and awareness,
རྩེག་ཅིག་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ཞབས་པད་ལེགས་བསྙེན་ན། །
tsek chik khyö kyi zhabpé lek nyen na
I wholeheartedly approach your perfect lotus feet.
དངོས་ཉམས་རྨི་ལམ་ཙམ་གྱི་སྣང་ཆ་རུ། །
ngö nyam milam tsam gyi nangcha ru
Please reveal your smiling face—in actuality, in visions, and in dreams;
དགྱེས་པའི་ཞལ་བསྟན་གསུང་གིས་དབུགས་དབྱུང་ཞིང་། །
gyepé zhal ten sung gi ukyung zhing
Provide me with assurance by means of your enlightened speech;
ཚེ་བསོད་དཔལ་འབྱོར་དབང་བཅུའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལ། །
tsé sö paljor wang chü yeshe la
Grant me longevity, merit, prosperity, and the wisdom of the ten powers,
བརྟེན་ནས་འཆི་མེད་གོ་འཕང་མྱུར་འགྲུབ་མཛོད། །
ten né chimé gopang nyur drub dzö
And thereby help me to swiftly reach the deathless state!
ཅེས་པའང་རིག་འཛིན་གྲུབ་པའི་དཔྱིད་པདྨའི་མིང་གིས་གང་ཤར་ཡུད་ཙམ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པ་སི་དྡྷི་རསྟུ།།
The one with the name of Padma, foremost of accomplished vidyādharas, spontaneously made this prayer of whatever came to mind. Siddhirastu.
