Prayer for the Long Life of Tulku Pema Rigtsal Rinpoche

ཨོཾ་སྭ་སྟི།

om svasti

Oṃ svasti

པདྨའི་གཉེན་གྱི་མགུར་ལས་དབྱངས་གཅིག་གིས། །

pemé nyen gyi gur lé yang chik gi

With a single melody, expressed as the sacred song of the sun,¹

བསྔགས་པའི་མེ་ཏོག་འཐོར་བའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྐུ། །

ngakpé metok torwé yeshe ku

Flowers of praise are strewn towards the wisdom body

པདྨ་ལས་འཁྲུངས་ཨོ་རྒྱན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་རྗེ། །

pema lé trung orgyen chö kyi jé

Of the Lotus-Born, the Lord of Oḍḍiyāna’s Dharma.

བྱང་ཆེན་བར་དུ་སྙིང་གི་པདྨོ་རོལ། །

jang chen bardu nying gi pemo rol

May you remain present in our lotus-hearts until great awakening.

མཁས་ཚུལ་གསུམ་གྱིས་བསྟན་པའི་རྒྱལ་མཚན་བསྒྲེངས། །

khé tsul sum gyi tenpé gyaltsen dreng

Through the three ways of the wise,² you have raised the victory banner of the teachings.

ཐོས་བསམ་བསྒོམས་པས་རང་རྒྱུད་ཞིང་ས་འདུལ། །

tö sam gompé ranggyü zhingsa dul

By hearing, contemplating, and meditating, you have cultivated the field of your own mind.

མཁྱེན་བརྩེ་ནུས་པས་གཞན་ཕན་དོན་དུ་གཉེར། །

khyen tsé nü pé zhenpen döndu nyer

With knowledge, compassion, and power, you strive for others’ benefit.

པདྨ་རིག་རྩལ་ཞབས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

pema riktsal zhab la solwa deb

O Pema Rigtsal, at your feet I pray.

གང་གི་གསང་གསུམ་རྡོ་རྗེའི་རང་བཞིན་ནི། །

gang gi sang sum dorjé rangzhin ni

Although your three secrets, nature of the three vajras,

གཡོ་བའི་ཆོས་ལས་ཡོངས་སུ་འདས་མོད་ཀྱང་། །

yowé chö lé yongsu dé mö kyang

Are beyond the vulnerability of conditioned phenomena,

གཞན་སྣང་གདུལ་བྱའི་དོན་གཉིས་འགྲུབ་པའི་སླད། །

zhennang duljé dön nyi drubpé lé

In the perception of others, to accomplish the twofold benefit of beings,

གཞན་སྣང་གདུལ་བྱའི་སྣང་ངོར་རྟག་བཞུགས་གསོལ། །

zhennang duljé nang ngor tak zhuk sol

Remain forever in the perception of those to be tamed, I pray!

སྙིགས་འགྲོའི་ནད་ཀྱི་གསོས་སྨན་ཉག་གཅིག་པུ། །

nyik drö né kyi sö men nyakchik pu

The sole cure for the sickness of beings in this degenerate time

རྒྱལ་བསྟན་སྤྱི་དང་བྱེ་བྲག་དུས་བབས་ཆོས། །

gyalten chi dang jedrak dü bab chö

Is the buddha’s teachings and specifically the timely teachings

བདུད་འཇོམས་གླིང་པའི་དགོངས་གཏེར་ནམ་མཁའི་མཛོད། །

düjom lingpé gongter namkhé dzö

Of Dudjom Lingpa, his inexhaustible treasury of mind termas.

བཤད་སྒྲུབ་ཕྲིན་ལས་ཐང་མར་བརྡལ་བ་ནས། །

shedrub trinlé tang mar dalwa né

As your activities to promote their learning and accomplishment spread far and wide,

འབྲེལ་ཐོགས་གདུལ་བྱས་གཙོས་པའི་འགྲོ་བ་ཀུན། །

drel tok duljé tsöpé drowa kün

May all beings, especially those who have forged a connection with you,

སྡུག་བསྔལ་གསུམ་གྱི་ཁྲི་མུན་ལས་ཐར་བ། །

dukngal sum gyi trimün lé tarwa

Be freed from the dungeon of the three types of sufferings,

རབ་འབྱམས་སྐུ་གསུམ་ཞིང་གི་ཡོན་ཏན་དཔལ། །

rabjam ku sum zhing gi yönten pal

And see the glorious qualities of infinite three-kāya realms,

འཕེལ་འགྲིབ་བྲལ་བའི་སྣང་བ་མཐོང་གྱུར་ཅིག །

peldrib dralwé nangwa tong gyur chik

A vision beyond expansion or reduction.

ཅེས་ཞབས་བརྟན་གསོལ་འདེབས་ཤློ་ཀ་རིགས་ལྔའི་གྲངས་ལྡན་འདི་ཉིད་པདྨ་གྲུབ་མཆོག་ནས་སྐྱེ་མེད་དབྱིངས་ཀྱི་ཡི་གེའི་སྒྲ་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ཡུལ་གྱི་ཤོག་དངུལ་དོང་རྩེ་བརྒྱ་ཕྲག་ལྷག་པ་ལྷ་རེག་གིས་བཏེགས་པས་སྣ་དྲངས་ཤིང་། མཆོག་སྤྲུལ་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་སྐུ་མཆེད་སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་སངས་རྒྱས་བཅས་ནས་བསྐུལ་མ་གནང་འབྱོར་བྱུང་བ་བཞིན་ཁྲག་འཐུང་བདུད་འཇོམས་གླིང་པའི་རིགས་དང་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བརྒྱུད་པའི་བྱིན་རླབས་ཀྱི་སྐལ་པ་སྦོམ་པོར་འཐོབ་པ་ཕྲིན་ལས་ནོར་བུ་ནས་ལྕགས་སྟག་ལོའི་ཧོར་ཟླ་བཅུ་གཅིག་པ་ཕྱི་མའི་ཚེས་བཅུའི་དུས་མཆོད་ཉིན་བསྟི་གནས་ཀུན་བཟང་དགའ་ཚལ་དུ་བྲིས་ནས་དར་གྱིས་ལྕིབས་ཏེ་ཕུལ།། །།

Thus, as requested by Pema Drubchok, who accompanied his request with a scarf and over one hundred dollars from the land whose name starts with the letter of unborn basic space, and further requested by Tulku Sangye, brother of the supreme Tulku Pema Rigtsal Rinpoche, this prayer, written in five verses, the number of the five buddha families, was offered by Thinley Norbu, one who has received the great fortune of the blessings of the family line and Dharma lineage of Traktung Dudjom Lingpa. Having composed this at Kunzang Gatsal on the tenth [i.e., Guru Rinpoche day] of the second eleventh month of the Iron Tiger year,³ I offer this wrapped in a silken scarf.
