A Long-Life Prayer for Gakar Tulku, Kunzang Khyabdal Longdrol

ཨོཾ་སྭསྟི།

om svasti

Oṃ svasti.

རྩ་གསུམ་རྒྱལ་བ་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་བྱིན་རླབས་དང་། །

tsa sum gyalwa gyatsö jinlab dang

Through the blessings of the vast hosts of the victorious Three Roots

ཐུབ་དབང་དོན་ཀུན་གྲུབ་དང་མཚོ་སྐྱེས་རྗེའི། །

tubwang dön kün drub dang tsokyé jé

And the enlightened intentions of Munīndra Siddhārtha (Śākyamuni Buddha) and Master Padmasambhava,

ཐུགས་བསྐྱེད་སྙིགས་མའི་འགྲོ་ལ་རབ་དགོངས་ནས། །

tukkyé nyikmé dro la rab gong né

Who perfectly understand the needs of those born in this age of decline,

བསྟན་དང་དེ་འཛིན་དབུ་འཕང་དགུང་དུ་བསྟོད། །

ten dang dé dzin upang gung du tö

May the status of the doctrine and its holders be raised as high as the sky!

རིང་ནས་ཀུན་ཕན་བྱང་སེམས་གོམས་པའི་མཐུས། །

ring né kün pen changsem gompé tü

Through the strength of your long familiarity with the altruistic mind of awakening,

མཁས་བཙུན་བཟང་གསུམ་བསྟན་པའི་དཔལ་གྱུར་བ། །

khé tsün zang sum tenpé pal gyurwa

You have dignified the teachings with your qualities of learning, discipline, and nobility.

ཐོས་བསམ་མཐར་སོན་བཤད་དང་སྒྲུབ་པའི་སྡེ། །

tö sam tar sön shé dang drubpé dé

Having completed the rigors of hearing and contemplation,

ཕ་མཐར་ཁྱབ་ཅིང་བརྡལ་ཕྱིར་ཞབས་བརྟན་གསོལ། །

patar khyab ching dal chir zhabten sol

May you help spread the study and practice of Buddha's teachings worldwide. To this end, we pray for your long life!

རོང་ཀློང་གཉིས་གཙོས་སྔ་འགྱུར་བརྒྱུད་པའི་སྲོལ། །

rong long nyi tsö ngagyur gyüpé sol

Following the tradition of the Early Translations, particularly the lineages of Rongzompa and Longchenpa,

རིག་འཛིན་གོང་མའི་རྣམ་ཐར་ཇི་བཞིན་དུ། །

rigdzin gongmé namtar jizhin du

And emulating the supreme awareness-holders of the past,

ཐེག་གསུམ་ལུང་དང་རྟོགས་པས་རང་རྒྱུད་གྲོལ། །

tek sum lung dang tokpé ranggyü drol

May you free your mind through the instructions and realization of the three vehicles,

གཞན་ཕན་མཛད་འཕྲིན་རབ་ཏུ་འཕེལ་གྱུར་ཅིག །

zhenpen dzetrin rabtu pel gyur chik

So that your enlightened activities for others’ benefit increase tremendously!

ཅེས་པའང་གད་དཀར་སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་ཀུན་བཟང་ཁྱབ་བརྡལ་ཀློང་གྲོལ་མཆོག་ལ་རིང་འཚོའི་ཞབས་བརྟན་སྨོན་ཚིག་དགོས་ཞེས་གཅེན་རིག་པ་འཛིན་པ་ཧཱུྃ་ཏྲཱྃ་ནས་རྟེན་བཅས་བསྐུལ་ངོར། རབ་འབྱམས་བདུན་པའི་མཚན་འཛིན་འགྱུར་མེད་བཤད་སྒྲུབ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སེང་གེས། བོད་རབ་གནས་ཤིང་འབྲུག་ཆུ་སྟོད་ཟླ་བའི་ཚེས་བཞི་བཟང་པོར་བྲིས་པ་དོན་དང་ལྡན་པར་གྱུར་ཅིག།

This long-life prayer for Gakar Tulku, Kunzang Khyabdal Longdrol, was written in response to a request, supported by a gift, from his elder brother, Rigzin Hungtram. It was composed by Gyurme Shedrub Chökyi Senge, who holds the title of the seventh Rabjam, on the auspicious fourth day of the first summer month¹ in the Wood Dragon year of the Tibetan calendar. May it be meaningful!
