Boosting the Good
A Practice to Raise the Windhorse of Circumstances, Relying on King Vajra Great Lion

ཊྐཾཿ ན་མོ་གུ་རུ་པདྨ་མཉྫུ་ཤྲཱི་བཛྲ་ཏིཀྵྞ་ཡ།
Namo guru-padma-manjuśrī-vajra-tīkṣṇāya!
དེ་ཡང་འདིར་ལེགས་བྱས་མཐོ་དམན་དུ་བསྒྱུར་བའི་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་ཐུགས་སྟོབས་ཀླུང་གི་རྟ་ཕོ་ལྟ་བུ་འདི་ཡི་དར་གུད་ལས། སྐྱེ་འགྲོའི་བྱ་བའི་ལམ་འགྲོས་ཆེ་ཆུང་ཐ་དད་པར་འགྱུར་བ་ཡིན་ལ། དེ་བསྐྱེད་པའི་རྟེན་འབྱུང་དུ་བོད་ཡུལ་རྒྱལ་པོ་དགྲ་འདུལ་ལ་བརྟེན་པ་ནི། ཐབས་གཞན་ལས་ཆེས་ཟབ་པའི་མཐར་ཐུག་ཡིན་པས་འདི་ལ་འབད་འཚལ།
There is a relationship between the strength or weakness of the power of good deeds and the fluctuations in the energies of the ‘wind stallion’ that results in either the success or failure of our activities. Here is a method that relies on King Dradül of Tibet to create the conditions that will raise the energies of the windhorse. Since it is the ultimate method that is more profound than any other, apply yourself with diligence.
དེ་ལ་ལོ་ཁམས་སམ་སྤར་སྨེ་རླུང་ཁམས་ཀྱི་མདོག་ཁྱད་པར་དུ་བྱས་པའི་མདོག་ལྔའི་དར་རས་ལ། རླུང་རྟ་བསྐྱེད་པའི་རྟེན་འབྱུང་གི་རི་མོ་ཇི་སྙེད་པ་དང༌། ཁྱད་པར་སེར་པོ་ལ་རྟ། དམར་པོར་སྟག སྔོན་པོར་འབྲུག ལྗང་གུར་ཁྱུང༌། དཀར་པོར་སེང་གེ་བྲི། དར་གྱི་བ་དན་ལྕེ་བཞི་ལ། བསམ་ལྷུན་སིདྡྷི་དང་འདོད་གསོལ། གཞན་ཡང་ཀླུང་རྟ་བསྐྱེད་པའི་སྔགས་ལ་སོགས་པ་བྲི་ཞིང༌། འདོད་གསོལ་དུ་འདི་བྲི་ཞིང་ངག་ཏུའང་གྱེར་རོ། །
Prepare flags of the five colours with more of the colour of the year element, of the relevant section of the eight trigrams, of the related section of the nine mewas, or of the wind element. The flags should be printed with drawings and inscriptions associated with raising windhorse. The horse should be printed in yellow, the tiger in red, the dragon in blue, the garuda in green, and the lion in white. Add four silk streamers to the flag. On the flag, print the Sampa Lhundrupma, the Vajra Guru mantra, the prayer requesting your wishes, along with mantras that raise the windhorse and so on. For the prayer requesting your wishes, the following supplication should be printed on the flag; recite it as well.
ཧཱུྃ༔ ཆོས་ཀུན་རྣམ་དག་རྡོ་རྗེ་རྣོན་པོའི་ཐུགས། །
hung, chö kün namdak dorjé nönpö tuk
Hūṃ. The utter purity of all phenomena, Vajratīkṣṇa's1 wisdom mind,
ཆོས་ཉིད་དྲི་མེད་སངས་རྒྱས་པདྨ་སྐྱེས། །
chönyi drimé sangye pema kyé
Stainless dharmatā, arose as the Lotus-born Buddha
སྒྱུ་འཕྲུལ་འགག་མེད་རྡོ་རྗེའི་དཔའ་བོ་ཆེ། །
gyutrul gakmé dorjé pawo ché
And the great hero who is the vajra’s unimpeded magical net of manifestation,
རིག་འཛིན་ནོར་བུ་དགྲ་འདུལ་འཁོར་བཅས་ཀྱིས། །
rigdzin norbu dradul khor ché kyi
The vidyādhara Norbul Draddul and his retinue –
དགེ་མཚན་རྣམ་རོལ་འཆར་བ་རླུང་རྟའི་དར། །
getsen namrol charwa lungté dar
Accept within the expanse of the peace of dharmatā
ཆོས་ཅན་འགག་མེད་རོལ་པའི་མཆོད་པ་འདི། །
chöchen gakmé rolpé chöpa di
This offering: an unceasing display of phenomena
ཆོས་ཉིད་ཞི་བ་དབྱིངས་ཀྱི་ཐིག་ལེར་བཞེས། །
chönyi zhiwa ying kyi tikler zhé
In the form of a windhorse flag.
རླུང་རྟ་སྙན་པའི་བ་དན་གཡོ་བར་མཛོད། །
lungta nyenpé baden yowar dzö
Let the windhorse banner billow in the wind, its sweet sound heard far and wide,
གྲགས་སྙན་དགེ་བ་འབུམ་གྱི་ལེགས་བྱས་མཛོད། །
drak nyen gewa bum gyi lek jé dzö
And bring forth the excellent activity of a hundred thousand virtues and fame!
ཁྱོད་ཐུགས་ཀུན་ཁྱབ་དཔལ་གྱི་བེའུ་ལས། །
khyö tuk künkhyab pal gyi bé'u lé
Let the all-pervading knot of glory at your heart
རྫུ་འཕྲུལ་རྟ་སྟག་ཁྱུང་འབྲུག་སེང་སོགས་ཀྱི། །
dzutrul ta tak khyung druk seng sok kyi
Produce the magic of the horses, tigers, garuḍas, dragons, lions and so on,
མི་ཟད་ངོ་མཚར་གཡོ་བའི་རྟེན་འབྱུང་གིས། །
mizé ngotsar yowé tenjung gi
Who, through their inexhaustible marvel and the auspicious coincidence of the billowing flag
སྲིད་པའི་དཔལ་ཡོན་ཀུན་ལས་མངོན་མཐོ་བ། །
sipé palyön kün lé ngön towa
Bring us the most excellent circumstances in the world!
མི་ནུབ་རྒྱལ་མཚན་ནོར་བུའི་ཏོག་མཛེས་ཉིད། །
mi nub gyaltsen norbü tok dzé nyi
The unfaltering banner adorned with a jewel finial
ས་གསུམ་ཡིད་འོང་བདུད་རྩིའི་སྙིང་པོ་ཅན། །
sa sum yi ong dütsi nyingpochen
Contains the amrita essence that delights the three planes of existence –
རྨད་བྱུང་སྐལ་བཟང་རླུང་རྟའི་ཤུགས་སྐྱེད་ཅིག །
mejung kalzang lungté shuk kyé chik
Raise the strength of the windhorse of wonderful fortune!
དེ་ཡང་འདིར་ལེགས་བྱས་མཐོ་དམན་དུ་བསྒྱུར་བའི་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་ཐུགས་སྟོབས་ཀླུང་གི་རྟ་ཕོ་ལྟ་བུ་འདི་ཡི་དར་གུད་ལས། སྐྱེ་འགྲོའི་བྱ་བའི་ལམ་འགྲོས་ཆེ་ཆུང་ཐ་དད་པར་འགྱུར་བ་ཡིན་ལ། དེ་བསྐྱེད་པའི་རྟེན་འབྱུང་དུ་བོད་ཡུལ་རྒྱལ་པོ་དགྲ་འདུལ་ལ་བརྟེན་པ་ནི། ཐབས་གཞན་ལས་ཆེས་ཟབ་པའི་མཐར་ཐུག་ཡིན་པས་འདི་ལ་འབད་འཚལ། དེ་ལ་ལོ་ཁམས་སམ་སྤར་སྨེ་རླུང་ཁམས་ཀྱི་མདོག་ཁྱད་པར་དུ་བྱས་པའི་མདོག་ལྔའི་དར་རས་ལ། རླུང་རྟ་བསྐྱེད་པའི་རྟེན་འབྱུང་གི་རི་མོ་ཇི་སྙེད་པ་དང༌། ཁྱད་པར་སེར་པོ་ལ་རྟ། དམར་པོར་སྟག སྔོན་པོར་འབྲུག ལྗང་གུར་ཁྱུང༌། དཀར་པོར་སེང་གེ་བྲི། དར་གྱི་བ་དན་ལྕེ་བཞི་ལ། བསམ་ལྷུན་སིདྡྷི་དང་འདོད་གསོལ། གཞན་ཡང་ཀླུང་རྟ་བསྐྱེད་པའི་སྔགས་ལ་སོགས་པ་བྲི་ཞིང༌། འདོད་གསོལ་དུ་འདི་བྲི་ཞིང་ངག་ཏུའང་གྱེར་རོ། །
Write this supplication on the windhorse flags, soak them in fine saffron water, and hoist them high. Look piercingly upward into the expanse of the sky, shout “Ki ki so so ha ha!” and recite the Vajra Guru mantra. Say the Essence of Dependent Origination mantra. Then offer sang, as you beat the drum and sing beautifully. Scatter blessed barley grains over the windhorse flags and chant the following prayer about how to visualize:
ཧཱུྃ། མཁའ་ཁྱབ་སྒྱུ་འཕྲུལ་དྲྭ་བའི་བདག་ཉིད་ནི། །
hung, khakhyab gyutrul drawé daknyi ni
Hūṃ. Embodiment of the magical net that pervades the whole of space,
གཉིས་མེད་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྐུ་མཆོག་པདྨ་སྐྱེས། །
nyimé yeshe ku chok pema kyé
Supreme kāya indivisible from wisdom, Lotus-born,
ཕྲིན་ལས་ཐོགས་མེད་དཔའ་བོའི་སྐུར་བཞེངས་པ། །
trinlé tokmé pawö kurzhengpa
Arising as the unstoppable champion of enlightened activities—
སྐྱེས་མཆོག་རིག་འཛིན་ནོར་བུ་དགྲ་འདུལ་རྗེ། །
kyechok rigdzin norbu dradul jé
Supreme being, vidyādhara, Lord Norbu Dradül!
གཞི་ལས་འདུ་འབྲལ་མེད་པའི་དམ་ཚིག་དང༌། །
zhi lé dudral mepé damtsik dang
With the samaya of indivisibility with the ground, beyond parting and joining,
གནས་སྐབས་དད་གུས་གདུང་བས་རྩེ་གཅིག་ཏུ། །
nekab dé gü dungwé tsechik tu
And heartfelt, unswerving faith and devotion,
མཁྱེན་བརྩེའི་གཏེར་ཆེན་ཁྱེད་ཐུགས་གནད་བསྐུལ་ན། །
khyentsé terchen khyé tuk né kul na
Great treasure of wisdom and love, I remind you of your promise!
རིག་འཛིན་པདྨའི་ཐུགས་ཀྱི་ཀློང་ནས་བཞེངས། །
rigdzin pemé tuk kyi long né zheng
Arise from the expanse of Vidyādhara Padma’s wisdom mind
དྲི་མེད་དབྱིངས་ལ་ཐོགས་པ་མེད་རྒྱུ་བ། །
drimé ying la tokpamé gyuwa
With unimpeded movements within stainless dharmadhātu!
འགག་མེད་རྡོ་རྗེའི་འགྲོས་ཀྱིས་སྐད་ཅིག་གིས། །
gakmé dorjé drö kyi kechik gi
Dance the unconfined vajra steps,
གནམ་ས་བར་སྣང་ཁྱབ་པའི་གར་བྱེད་ཅིང༌། །
namsa barnang khyabpé gar jé ching
Instantly fill the earth, the sky and everywhere in between with your dance.
དགྲ་བླ་ཝེར་མ་ཆར་སྤྲིན་ལྟ་བུར་འཚུབ། །
drala werma chartrin tabur tsub
The dralas and wermas amass around you like rainclouds,
མཚར་སྡུག་དྭངས་སྨན་དགྱེས་པའི་གླུ་དབྱངས་སྒྲོགས། །
tsar duk dangmen gyepé luyang drok
The most beautiful maidens sing joyful songs,
རེག་འཇམ་ཤུགས་དྲག་རྡོ་རྗེའི་རླུང་གཡོ་ཞིང༌། །
rek jam shuk drak dorjé lung yo zhing
The vajra wind blows, caressing the skin and yet so powerful,
བདུད་རྩིའི་ཆར་དང་འཆི་མེད་འདོད་དགུའི་བཅུད། །
dütsi char dang chimé dögü chü
A shower of amrita, long-life nectar and all that is desired rains down,
ཡིད་འོང་དྲི་བསུང་སྤོས་ཀྱི་ངད་ལྡང་བ། །
yi ong drisung pö kyi ngé dangwa
Fragrant incense sweetens the air,
རྡོ་རྗེའི་ཅང་ཤེས་འཁྱུག་པའི་ངར་གྱིས་གཡོ། །
dorjé changshé khyukpé ngar gyi yo
Your skilful vajra steed gallops with all its might,
སྣ་ཚོགས་དར་གྱི་ཅོད་པན་པུ་རུ་རུ། །
natsok dar gyi chöpen pururu
The multicoloured silk ribbons tied to your head tossed high in the wind—puru ru!
རིན་ཆེན་རོལ་མོའི་སྒྲ་སྙན་ཁྲོ་ལོ་ལོ། །
rinchen rolmö dra nyen trololo
The music of precious instruments resounds loudly—trolo lo!
དགྲ་བླའི་བ་དན་གཡོ་བ་ཤིགས་སེ་ཤིག །
dralé baden yowa shik sé shik
And the dralas’ flags flutter and thrash—shiksé shik!
དཔའ་བའི་ཀི་བསྭོ་ཆ་སྒྲ་སྒྲོགས་པ་ཡི། །
pawé kiso chadra drokpa yi
The voices of your legions of warriors fill the air with ki so,
ཁམས་གསུམ་དྲེགས་པའི་དམག་དཔུང་རྣམས་ཀྱི་མཆོག །
kham sum drekpé makpung nam kyi chok
Supreme leader of the armies of haughty spirits from all three realms,
དཔའ་བོ་མཁའ་འགྲོའི་དབུས་ན་རྡོ་རྗེའི་སྐུ། །
pawo khandrö ü na dorjé ku
Vajra kāya surrounded by ḍākas and ḍākinīs,
རབ་བརྗིད་སེང་ཆེན་རྒྱལ་པོ་འཁོར་དང་བཅས། །
rab ji sengchen gyalpo khor dangché
Perfectly splendid King Great Lion, and your retinue,
སྐད་ཅིག་གློག་ལྟར་མྱུར་བས་གནས་འདིར་བྱོན། །
kechik lok tar nyurwé né dir jön
Please come to this place with the speed of lightning!
དྲི་མེད་རླུང་རྟ་བསྐྱེད་པའི་དགེ་མཚན་གྱི། །
drimé lungta kyepé getsen gyi
Accept this rippling flag of divine silk,
ལྷ་རྫས་བ་དན་གཡོ་བ་འདི་བཞེས་ལ། །
lhadzé baden yowa di zhé la
The pure virtuous sign of the rising windhorse.
དགེ་མཆོག་རླུང་རྟ་སྙན་པའི་བ་དན་དེ། །
gé chok lungta nyenpé baden dé
The powerful vajra wind moves the flag of the supremely virtuous windhorse,
ཤུགས་ཆེན་རྡོ་རྗེའི་རླུང་གིས་བསྐྱོད་གྱུར་ནས། །
shuk chen dorjé lung gi kyö gyur né
Sweet-sounding far and wide,
ཕྱོགས་བཅུའི་ཕྱོགས་མཐར་ཁྱབ་པ་སྙན་གྲགས་དཔལ། །
chok chü chok tar khyabpa nyendrak pal
And glorious fame and renown fill the ten directions to the end of space.
ངོ་མཚར་མཐོང་ན་དགའ་བའི་རང་བཞིན་གཏེར། །
ngotsar tong na gawé rangzhin ter
This wondrous flag naturally brings joy to all who see it.
ལས་རླུང་ལྷ་ཡི་རོལ་མོ་དཀྲོལ་བར་མཛོད། །
lé lunglha yi rolmo trolwar dzö
The windhorse of activities resounds like the music of the gods.
སྙིང་ག་དཔལ་བེའུའི་ཁྱིམ་ལ་དགྱེས་རོལ་ནས། །
nyingga palbé'ü khyim la gyé rol né
Remain, full of delight, in the glorious knot of my heart,
དྭངས་པའི་དབྱིངས་ལ་ལྷ་ཡི་སྤྲིན་བཞིན་དུ། །
dangpé ying la lha yi trin zhindu
And like divine clouds in a clear sky,
ངོ་མཚར་དགའ་བའི་རོལ་རྩེད་གཡོ་བའི་གར། །
ngotsar gawé roltsé yowé gar
Reveal your dances—the play of most marvellous joy—
དབྱེར་མེད་དབྱིངས་ཀྱི་གཤིས་ལ་བསྒྱུར་བར་མཛོད། །
yermé ying kyi shi la gyurwar dzö
Which are indivisible from dharmadhātu’s essence!
སྙིང་ནང་བདུད་རྩིས་གང་བའི་དཔྱིད་བཞིན་དུ། །
nying nang dütsi gangwé chi zhindu
In the delight of a heart filled with nectar,
ཉམས་འགྱུར་ཟག་མེད་བདེ་བའི་རོ་ཙ་འཕེལ། །
nyamgyur zakmé dewé rotsa pel
Increase my appetite for untainted bliss!
འདའ་མེད་དབང་གི་གཟི་དྲོད་འབར་བ་ཡིས། །
damé wang gi zi drö barwa yi
May an irresistible magnetizing power blaze forth
འདོད་དགུའི་དཔལ་མོ་མགྲོན་དུ་ཁུག་པར་མཛོད། །
dögü palmo drön du khukpar dzö
And its warmth attract the glorious partners I desire!
ཤུགས་ཆེན་རྡོ་རྗེའི་རླུང་གིས་བསྐྱོད་པ་ཡི། །
shuk chen dorjé lung gi kyöpa yi
The powerful and skilful horse, propelled by the forceful vajra wind,
རྫུ་འཕྲུལ་ཐོགས་མེད་འདོད་པའི་མཁའ་ལ་འགྲོ། །
dzutrul tokmé döpé kha la dro
With unimpeded magic gallops freely across the sky,
ཡིད་འོང་སྤྲིན་ལས་དགའ་བའི་གཟུགས་ངོམས་པ། །
yi ong trin lé gawé zuk ngompa
His form more delightful than the most beautiful of clouds.
རྣོ་མྱུར་ལས་ཀྱི་རྟེན་འབྱུང་ཅང་ཤེས་རྟ། །
no nyur lé kyi tenjung changshé ta
This vajra steed brings with him the conditions for swift, efficient action.
ལེགས་བྱས་མཐོ་དམན་བསྒྱུར་བའི་བཞོན་པ་ནི། །
lek jé to men gyurwé zhönpa ni
He can influence the power and potential of good actions,
སྲིད་པར་རྒྱུ་ཞིང་ཞི་བའི་ལམ་ལ་འགྲོ། །
sipar gyu zhing zhiwé lam la dro
As he gallops through saṃsāra to nirvāṇa.
རྡོ་རྗེའི་རྐྱང་རྒོད་ནོར་བུའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་འཕྲུལ། །
dorjé kyang gö norbü trinlé trul
The vajra steed, wild and skilful, that you manifest to accomplish your activities,
མི་མཆོག་ནོར་བུ་དགྲ་འདུལ་ཁྱེད་ལ་འབུལ། །
michok norbu dradul khyé la bul
Peerless figure, Norbu Dradül, I offer it to you!
དབྱེར་མེད་ཞི་བ་དབྱིངས་ཀྱི་ཐིག་ལེར་བཞེས། །
yermé zhiwa ying kyi tikler zhé
Accept it in the indivisible sphere of the expanse of peace
རྣམ་དག་པདྨའི་མཁའ་དབྱིངས་རང་གྲོལ་ནས། །
namdak pemé khaying rangdrol né
And within self-liberation, in the utterly pure lotus space of dharmadhātu,
རླུང་རྟ་སྙན་པའི་བ་དན་གཡོ་བར་མཛོད། །
lungta nyenpé baden yowar dzö
Let the flag of inspiring windhorse flutter and sway!
མི་བཟད་ང་རོ་གཡོ་བའི་དཔའ་རྔམ་གྱི། །
mi zé ngaro yowé pa ngam gyi
The tiger, whose roar is so intimidating, so overwhelming,
དྲག་པོའི་མེ་ལྕེ་མཆེད་པའི་ཟིལ་འཁྲུགས་པ། །
drakpö meché chepé zil trukpa
Fans the brilliance of the raging flames of wrath!
རྣམ་མང་དགྲ་བླ་འདུས་པའི་སྙིང་སྟོབས་གཟུགས། །
nam mang drala düpé nyingtob zuk
Awesome and splendid, he effortlessly bounds and leaps,
རྔམ་བརྗིད་མཆོངས་ལྡེམ་འགྱིང་བ་འཛུམ་ལྡན་སྟག །
ngam ji chong dem gyingwa dzumden tak
Embodying the might of the assembly of dralas
སྐྱེས་བུའི་ཡིད་ལ་དཔའ་བའི་སྟོབས་ཀྱི་རྟེན། །
kyebü yi la pawé tob kyi ten
And granting us courage and strength of mind.
རྒོལ་ངན་རི་བོ་འཇོམ་པའི་རྡོ་རྗེ་ནི། །
gol ngen riwo jompé dorjé ni
He is the vajra that overcomes mountains of malicious foes,
མཐར་བྱེད་དྲག་པོ་དགྲ་འདུལ་ཐུགས་ལས་སྤྲུལ། །
tar jé drakpo dradul tuk lé trul
Emanated from the mind of the wrathful annihilator, Dradül, "the Tamer of Enemies.
སྲིད་པར་རྒྱུ་ཞིང་དཀར་ཕྱོགས་སྟོབས་ལས་སྤྲུལ། །
sipar gyu zhing karchok tob lé trul
The tiger who moves through saṃsāra and manifests from the power of virtue,
མི་མཆོག་ནོར་བུ་དགྲ་འདུལ་ཁྱེད་ལ་འབུལ། །
michok norbu dradul khyé la bul
Peerless Norbu Dradül, I offer it to you!
རབ་བརྗིད་འགྱིང་བ་དཔའ་བོའི་གཟུགས་ཀྱི་དཔལ། །
rab ji gyingwa pawö zuk kyi pal
The lion’s glorious form is of a great warrior, his stride majestic!
གནམ་ལྕགས་རི་བོའི་ཟོམ་ནས་ངོམས་པའི་ཡིད། །
namchak riwö zom né ngompé yi
He looks on contentedly as he dominates the world from the summit of the mountain of meteoric iron!
བདུད་རྩིས་མྱོས་པའི་ཟེར་ལས་ཁམས་གསུམ་པོ། །
dütsi nyöpé zer lé kham sumpo
He has manifested in the three realms from the magic elixir of the gods,
ཅིག་ཆར་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན་པའི་གདོང་ལྔ་པ། །
chikchar zil gyi nönpé dong ngapa
And overcomes all opponents in an instant!
དགེ་བའི་ཕྱྭ་གཡང་ཆགས་པའི་མདངས་འཕྲོ་ཞིང༌། །
gewé cha yang chakpé dang tro zhing
This most majestic of lions radiates the light of increasing virtue, abundance and prosperity!
ཕ་རོལ་སྟོབས་འཕྲོག་རྣམ་གནོན་གཟི་བརྗིད་རྟེན། །
parol tob trok namnön ziji ten
He destroys the strength of his opponents and supports the victorious and the glorious!
ལྷུན་སྟུག་མངོན་པར་མཐོ་བ་མིའི་ཁྱུ་མཆོག །
lhün tuk ngönpar towa mi khyuchok
This lion, your emanation, highest of the high and supreme leader of people,
ཟག་མེད་གཟི་འབར་སེང་ཆེན་སྐུ་ལས་སྤྲུལ། །
zakmé zibar sengchen ku lé trul
O Great Lion’s kāya who blazes with undefiled magnificence,
མི་མཆོག་ནོར་བུ་དགྲ་འདུལ་ཁྱེད་ལ་འབུལ། །

དཔག་བསམ་ལྗོན་པའི་རྩེ་ནས་བསྐྱོད་པ་ཡི། །
paksam jönpé tsé né kyöpa yi
On top of the wish-granting tree,
དྲག་པོའི་འདབ་གཤོག་རྫུ་འཕྲུལ་རླུང་གི་བང༌། །
drakpö dab shok dzutrul lung gi bang
The fabulous bird with wings so powerful that she can race against the wind,
ཐོགས་མེད་མཁའ་ལ་ལྡིང་ཞིང་འགྱིང་བ་ཡི། །
tokmé kha la ding zhing gyingwa yi
Soars high in the sky that is her dominion.
ངོ་མཚར་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པ་ཝེར་མའི་ཁྱུང༌། །
ngotsar pünsum tsokpa wermé khyung
Marvellous, flawless leader of the wermas,
སྐྱེས་བུའི་ཡིད་ལ་ཡོན་ཏན་ཀུན་སྤེལ་བ། །
kyebü yi la yönten kün pelwa
She enhances qualities in people’s minds.
མི་ཟད་དཔལ་གྱི་ནོར་བུ་དགའ་བའི་རྟེན། །
mizé pal gyi norbu gawé ten
Inexhaustible excellence of the jewel of joy,
ཤིན་ཏུ་ཡིད་འོང་རྨད་བྱུང་མཛངས་པའི་དཔྱིད། །
shintu yi ong mejung dzangpé chi
She delights in astounding and enthralling bravery,
མངོན་པར་དགའ་བ་སྐྱེས་བུའི་ཡོན་ཏན་འཕྲུལ། །
ngönpar gawa kyebü yönten trul
And manifests from the qualities of those who dwell in Manifest Joy!
མི་མཆོག་ནོར་བུ་དགྲ་འདུལ་ཁྱེད་ལ་འབུལ། །

སྟུག་ལྡན་ཆུ་སྤྲིན་གཞོན་ནུའི་རུམ་གནས་པ། །
tukden chu trin zhönnü rum nepa
The womb of heavy, new rain clouds
མཛེས་པའི་གློག་དམར་གཡོ་བའི་སྐ་རགས་ཅན། །
dzepé lok mar yowé karak chen
Lit by beautiful flashes of red lightning,
གྲགས་སྙན་དགེ་བའི་གསུང་སྒྲོགས་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་མངལ། །
drak nyen gewé sung drok gyatsö ngal
Gives birth to the roar of fame and virtuous words of praise.
ཟབ་པའི་དགེ་མཚན་ཆེས་ལྡིར་དགྲ་བླའི་འབྲུག །
zabpé getsen ché dir dralé druk
The formidable thunder of the virtuous banner, the roar of the dralas’ dragon,
རྒྱལ་ཐབས་རེ་བ་རྫོགས་པའི་ང་རོ་ཡིས། །
gyaltab rewa dzokpé ngaro yi
And the clamour at the fulfilment of hope to be crowned
སྙིང་ལ་དགེ་བའི་བདུད་རྩིའི་ཆར་འབེབ་ཅིང༌། །
nying la gewé dütsi char beb ching
Descend into my heart as a shower of nectar of positive action.
སྐྱེས་བུའི་གྲགས་སྙན་ཀུན་ཏུ་ཁྱབ་བྱེད་རྟེན། །
kyebü drak nyen küntu khyabjé ten
The dragon who proclaims universal fame and thunders renown
སྙན་པར་སྒྲོགས་པ་གེ་སར་གསུང་ལས་སྤྲུལ། །
nyenpar drokpa gesar sung lé trul
Emanated from Gesar’s enlightened speech,
མི་མཆོག་ནོར་བུ་དགྲ་འདུལ་ཁྱེད་ལ་འབུལ། །

Peerless Norbu Dradül, I offer it to you!
ཡེ་སྟོང་སྤྲོས་དང་བྲལ་བའི་ནམ་མཁའ་ལ། །
yé tong trö dang dralwé namkha la
In the primordially empty space of sheer simplicity,
ཕྱི་ནང་སྣོད་བཅུད་བརྟན་གཡོ་སྲིད་པའི་ཁམས།
chinang nöchü tenyo sipé kham
All realms of existence, the universe and its inhabitants,
སྣ་ཚོགས་སྒྱུ་མ་མཐའ་ཡས་སྤྲོ་བསྡུའི་གར། །
natsok gyuma tayé trodü gar
Are an endless dance of every kind of magical emanation and dissolution;
བརྗོད་བྱའི་ཡུལ་ལས་འདས་པའི་རོལ་རྩེད་ངོམས། །
jöjé yul lé depé roltsé ngom
In the exhibition of displays beyond description,
ལྷ་རྣམས་དགའ་བའི་བདུད་རྩི་འདོད་དགུར་འཇོ། །
lha nam gawé dütsi dögur jo
Gods drink the nectar of joy that grants all desire,
མི་རྣམས་བདེ་སྡུག་རྣམ་མང་སྒྱུ་འཕྲུལ་མཐོང༌། །
mi nam deduk nam mang gyutrul tong
Humans see the magical display of all manner of happiness and suffering,
ས་འོག་དམྱལ་བ་མི་བཟད་སྡུག་བསྔལ་མྱོང༌། །
sawo nyalwa mi zé dukngal nyong
Beings in subterranean hells experience unbearable suffering,
མཁའ་སྤྱོད་ཞིང་གི་འཕགས་པ་རྟག་ཏུ་ཞི། །
khachö zhing gi pakpa taktu zhi
Noble residents of the pure celestial realms are forever peaceful, and so on,
དེ་སོགས་སྲིད་ཞི་རྣམ་མང་ཆོས་ཀྱི་ཚུལ། །
dé sok sizhi nam mang chö kyi tsul
While the many aspects of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa
ཀ་དག་དགོངས་པ་ཆོས་སྐུའི་ཀློང་དུ་གཅིག །
kadak gongpa chökü long du chik
Are one within the realization of primordial purity, the expanse of dharmakāya.
རང་སེམས་རྣམ་པར་གཡོ་བའི་ཆོ་འཕྲུལ་ཏེ། །
rangsem nampar yowé chotrul té
These magical displays are the movement of my own mind,
མི་ཟད་རྟེན་འབྱུང་རིག་པའི་རླུང་ལས་འཕྲོས། །
mizé tenjung rigpé lung letrö
Produced by its ceaseless interdependence with the wind of awareness:
ཁམས་གསུམ་རྣམ་པར་གྲུབ་པ་འབྱུང་བ་ལྔའི། །
kham sum nampar drubpa jungwa ngé
The light bindu blazing with the essences of the five sensory stimulants
འོད་ལྔའི་དྭངས་བཅུད་འབར་བའི་ཐིག་ལེ་ལས། །
ö ngé dangchü barwé tiklé lé
Of the five primary elements that make the three realms
མི་ཤིགས་རྡོ་རྗེ་གསང་བ་རླུང་རྟའི་ལྷ། །
mishik dorjé sangwa lungté lha
Produces the secret, indestructible, vajra windhorse deities
དཔལ་ཡོན་ཀུན་གྱི་རྟེན་འབྱུང་གཞི་རུ་གྱུར། །
palyön kün gyi tenjung zhi ru gyur
From whom the interdependence of good and virtue arises.
མི་འདའ་འགྱུར་མེད་མཁའ་དབྱིངས་བུམ་པ་རུ། །
mi da gyurmé khaying bumpa ru
They support the manifestation of magical displays of a multitude of positive circumstances
རྣམ་མང་ལེགས་བྱས་སྒྱུ་འཕྲུལ་གཡོ་བའི་རྟེན། །
nam mang lek jé gyutrul yowé ten
Within the unalterable, immutable expansive vase of space,
བསམ་པ་ཙམ་གྱིས་འདོད་དགུ་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་པ། །
sampa tsam gyi dögu lhündrubpa
And accomplish everything spontaneously the moment we think of it.
རང་གདངས་སེང་ཆེན་མི་ཤིགས་ཐིག་ལེར་བཞེངས། །
rang dang sengchen mishik tikler zheng
Natural radiance arising as the indestructible bindu, Great Lion,
ལེགས་པར་སྨོན་པའི་དཔལ་ཡོན་བཅུད་དུ་བཀུག །
lekpar mönpé palyön chü du kuk
Gather the energy of goodness and the virtue of positive aspirations!
འདོད་པའི་གནས་ལ་རྡོ་རྗེའི་རླུང་གིས་བགྲོད། །
döpé né la dorjé lung gi drö
On vajra wind, carry us wherever we wish to go!
སྲིད་ཞིའི་དཔལ་ལ་འདོད་དགུར་རོལ་མཛད་པ། །
sizhi pal la dögur rol dzepa
May we enjoy everything we desire in the glory of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa—
མཚུངས་མེད་དབང་གི་སེང་ཆེན་གཡོ་བར་མཛོད། །
tsungmé wang gi sengchen yowar dzö
Let the Great Lion flag of incomparable power fly high!
ཀ་དག་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་པདྨའི་རོལ་པ་ལས། །
kadak lhündrub pemé rolpa lé
From the display of the lotus of primordial purity and spontaneous presence,
སྒྱུ་འཕྲུལ་དགེ་བའི་བ་དན་སེང་ཆེན་རྗེས། །
gyutrul gewé baden sengchen jé
The magical emanation of the virtuous, supreme Great Lion’s flag appears.
ལྕགས་ལ་གསེར་འགྱུར་བཞིན་དུ་གང་བྱས་ལས། །
chak la ser gyur zhindu gang jé lé
Like turning iron into gold, this flag can transform all that we do;
བཟང་པོར་འགྲོ་བ་སྙན་པའི་རྒྱལ་རྔ་སྒྲོགས། །
zangpor drowa nyenpé gyal nga drok
Our every positive endeavour will go well and the victory drum of our fame resound,
འདོད་འབྱུང་རྒྱལ་སྲིད་བདུན་དང་རྟགས་རྫས་བརྒྱད། །
dö jung gyalsi dün dang tak dzé gyé
And the glory of auspiciousness, abundance and good fortune
ཉི་ཟླ་དཔག་བསམ་ཤིང་དང་འདོད་འཇོའི་བ། །
nyida paksam shing dang döjöba
Will appear as the most excellent articles from the wealth of existence and peace,
གཏེར་བུམ་བདུད་རྩི་ལ་སོགས་སྲིད་དང་ཞིའི། །
ter bum dütsi lasok si dang zhi
Such as the seven wish-fulfilling emblems of royalty, eight auspicious symbols and substances,
དཔལ་འབྱོར་རྣམས་ཀྱི་དངོས་པོའི་དགེ་མཚན་ལྟར། །
paljor nam kyi ngöpö getsen tar
Sun, moon, wish-granting tree, bountiful cow,
བཀྲ་ཤིས་ཕྱྭ་གཡང་ཀུན་གྱི་དཔལ་མཐའ་དག །
tashi cha yang kün gyi pal tadak
Treasure vase, amrita, and so on.
གཅིག་ཏུ་འདུས་པ་ཡིད་འོང་དགའ་བའི་གཏེར། །
chik tu düpa yi ong gawé ter
Gather them all into a pleasing treasury of joy,
སྐྱེ་དགུའི་སྙིང་ལ་འཇུག་པའི་ཡོན་ཏན་ནི། །
kyegü nying la jukpé yönten ni
Pour their qualities into the hearts of beings,
མི་ཟད་བསམ་འཕེལ་ཕན་བདེའི་གཏེར་གྱུར་མཛོད། །
mizé sampel pendé ter gyur dzö
And make them an inexhaustible wish-fulfilling treasury of happiness and well-being!
མི་ནུབ་རྒྱལ་མཚན་ནོར་བུའི་ཏོག་མཐོ་ཞིང༌། །
mi nub gyaltsen norbü tok to zhing
May the finial jewel of the never-faltering victory banner rise high!
སྲིད་པ་གསུམ་གྱི་གཙུག་ན་འབར་གྱུར་པ། །
sipa sum gyi tsuk na bar gyurpa
May it blaze at the summit of the three realms of existence!
ཁམས་གསུམ་དབང་བསྒྱུར་དགྲ་འདུལ་རྒྱལ་པོ་ཡི། །
kham sum wanggyur dradul gyalpo yi
Hoist the victory banner of the ruler of three realms, King Tamer of Maras,
ཕྱག་རྟགས་རྒྱལ་མཚན་སྲིད་རྩེར་བསྒྲེང་བར་མཛོད། །
chak tak gyaltsen sitser drengwar dzö
High on the peak of existence!
འདི་ནི་ཤུགས་བསྟན་སྦས་དོན་གནད། །
ཟབ་ཅིང་གསང་བ་རྟེན་འབྱུང་གི །
གནད་འགག་ཆེ་བའི་མདོག་ལྔའི་དར། །
རླུང་རྟ་བྱས་ལ་དགྲ་བླ་བསང༌། །
ཚིག་འདི་བསྒྲགས་པར་གྱུར་པ་ན། །
རྨི་ལམ་རྟ་སྟག་འབྲུག་སོགས་ཞོན། །
བ་དན་རྙེད་ཅིང་རོལ་མོ་དཀྲོལ། །
ཕྱོགས་ལས་རྣམ་རྒྱལ་རི་མཐོར་འཛེགས། །
ཉི་ཟླ་ཤར་བ་ལ་སོགས་པ། །
རྣམ་པར་དགེ་བའི་མཚན་ལྟས་རྙེད། །
དངོས་ཉམས་རིག་པ་དྭངས་ཤིང་དགའ། །
དཔའ་བའི་ཉམས་རྒྱས་ཀུན་གྱིས་བཏུད། །
གང་བྱས་ལམ་དུ་འགྲོའོ་ཞེས། །
ཌཱ་ཀི་གཽ་རཱའི་ཞལ་ལས་ཐོས། །
The key points of the hidden meaning are implicit in the text.
First, prepare windhorse flags—
Five-coloured flags that contain the profound and secret key points of interdependence.
Then offer sang to the dralas.
If you say these words, you will dream of riding horses, tigers, dragons, and the like,
Acquiring flags, playing music, or raising flags atop a mountain that dominates in every direction.
You will see good omens, such as the sun or moon rising in dreams,
Or experience your rigpa-awareness clearly, or feel joyful and develop courage.
Everyone will pay homage to you and whatever you do will be successful.
I have heard this from the ḍākinī Gaura herself.
དེང་སང་ཕལ་ཆེར་རླུང་རྟ་ཉམས། །
བཙུན་པའི་འདུལ་ཁྲིམས་ཞིག་པ་དང༌། །
སྨན་དཔྱད་རྩིས་ཀྱི་རྣོ་མྱུར་ཆུང༌། །
སྐྱེས་པ་མནའ་སྡིག་ཀུན་གྱིས་བརྙས། །
དེ་འདྲའི་ཕྱོགས་མང་འབྱུང་བ་དང༌། །
མ་ཉེས་དགྲས་འཚེ་བསམ་པ་ནི། །
ལོག་པར་གྱུར་བའི་དུས་འདི་ན། །
འདི་ལས་ཟབ་པ་མེད་དོ་བུ། །
རང་གི་ལག་ཏུ་ལོངས་དང་ཤེས། །
In most cases these days, our windhorse is weak.
The ordained saṅgha destroys the discipline of the Vinaya,
Medicines are slow to take effect and lack power,
Vows treated with contempt, and beings engage in every possible kind of negative action.
For such a corrupt time, when negative actions come from all directions,
And the innocent are seen as enemies and are struck down, there is no method more profound than this, my child!
Take this instruction into your hand and know how to use it.
ས་མ་ཡཱ༔ རྒྱ་རྒྱ་རྒྱ༔
Samaya༔ Gya gya gya.༔
འདི་བརྩམས་གང་བྱས་ལམ་དུ་འགྲོ །
སྙན་དང་གྲགས་པས་ཀུན་ཏུ་ཁྱབ། །
ལོག་པར་བྱས་ཀྱང་ལེགས་པར་འགྲོ །
ས་སྟེང་མི་ཡི་ནོར་བུའོ། །
May the merit from composing this text be the cause of constant success,
May fame and praise resound everywhere,
May all actions have a positive outcome, even mistaken ones—
May this prayer be the jewel of humankind on earth!
འདི་ནི་སྔ་མོར་རིག་པའི་ཐིག་ལེར་གབ་ཡོད་པ། ཟླ་༣ཚེས་༡ལ་ཕབ་པ་རླུང་རྟའི་དར་བསྒྲོན་པའི་སྐབས་སུ་བཏོན་པས། ངེས་པར་ལས་བྱས་རྣོ་མྱུར་ཐོགས་མེད་དུ་འགྲོ་བར་དངོས་སུ་མཐོང་ཞིང༌། རྟེན་འབྱུང་ཤིན་ཏུ་དགེ་བ་བཀྲ་ཤིས་ལ་མི་ཟད་པ་སྙན་གྲགས་ཀུན་ཏུ་ཁྱབ་པའི་དཔལ་མངོན་དུ་མཐོང་བ། མི་བསླུ་བའི་འབྲས་བུ་དུས་ལས་མི་འདའ་བ་རྡོ་རྗེའི་དཔའ་བོའི་ཐ་ཚིག ཨྠིྀ། མངྒ་ལཾཿ
This instruction, which had been covered in the bindu of awareness, appeared on the first day of the third month. It was on a day for hanging windhorse flags that I saw clearly and without doubt that it would increase the potential of our endeavours and bring about swift results, free from obstruction. This instruction will continuously create extremely virtuous and auspicious circumstances, and will spread the glory of fame and renown throughout all of space. The vajra hero promised that this practice is unfailing, its result timely. Ithi. Maṅgalam.
