Supplementary Instructions for the Longevity Empowerment

The Request

ཀུན་མཁྱེན་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཕུང་པོ་ཅན། །

künkhyen yeshe pungpo chan

Omniscient one, embodiment of primordial wisdom,

སྲིད་པའི་འཁོར་ལོ་རྣམ་སྦྱོང་བ། །

sipé khorlo nam jongwe

Who thoroughly purifies the wheel of existence—

དེ་རིང་བཤད་པའི་རིན་ཆེན་གཏེར། །

dering shepé rinchen ter

Lord, with your kindness, grant me this precious treasure

གཙོ་བོས་བདག་ལ་བཀའ་དྲིན་སྩོལ། །

tsowö dak la kadrin tsol

Of which you have spoken today.

Refuge and Bodhicitta

སངས་རྒྱས་ཆོས་དང་ཚོགས་ཀྱི་མཆོག་རྣམས་ལ། །

sangye chö dang tsok kyi chok nam la

In the Buddha, the Dharma and the Supreme Assembly,

བྱང་ཆུབ་བར་དུ་བདག་ནི་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆི། །

changchub bardu dak ni kyab su chi

I take refuge until I attain enlightenment.

བདག་གིས་སྦྱིན་སོགས་བགྱིས་པའི་བསོད་ནམས་ཀྱིས། །

dak gi jinsok gyipé sönam kyi

Through the merit of practising generosity and so on,

འགྲོ་ལ་ཕན་ཕྱིར་སངས་རྒྱས་འགྲུབ་པར་ཤོག །

dro la pen chir sangye drubpar shok

May I attain buddhahood for the benefit of beings!

7. Dedication

ཕྱག་འཚལ་བ་དང་མཆོད་ཅིང་བཤགས་པ་དང་། །

chaktsalwa dang chö ching shakpa dang

What little virtue I have gathered through my homage,

རྗེས་སུ་ཡི་རང་བསྐུལ་ཞིང་གསོལ་བ་ཡི། །

jesu yi rang kul zhing solwa yi

Through offering, confession, and rejoicing,

དགེ་བ་ཅུང་ཟད་བདག་གིས་ཅི་བསགས་པ། །

gewa chungzé dak gi chi sakpa

Through exhortation and prayer—all of it

ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་གིས་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཕྱིར་བསྔོའོ། །

tamché dak gi changchub chir ngo o

I dedicate to the enlightenment of all beings!

Verse from The Praise to Tārā with Twenty-One Verses of Homage

ཕྱག་འཚལ་དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པའི་གཙུག་གཏོར། །

chaktsal dezhin shekpé tsuk tor

Homage to you, whose victories are endless,

མཐའ་ཡས་རྣམ་པར་རྒྱལ་བ་སྐྱེད་མ། །

tayé nampar gyalwa kyé ma

Jewel on the great Tathāgata’s crown.

མ་ལུས་ཕ་རོལ་ཕྱིན་པ་ཐོབ་པའི། །

malü parol chinpa tobpé

You are well served by the heirs of the Victors,

རྒྱལ་བའི་སྲས་ཀྱིས་ཤིན་ཏུ་བརྟེན་མ།

gyalwé sé kyi shintu ten ma

Those who’ve accomplished all the perfections. (4)

Promise to Keep the Vows

གཙོ་བོས་ཇི་ལྟར་བཀའ་བསྩལ་པ། །

tsowö jitar ka tsalpa

Whatever the guru, chief of the maṇḍala, commands,

དེ་དག་ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་གིས་བགྱི། །

dedak tamché dak gi gyi

I shall carry out—each and every instruction.

ཁྱོད་ལ་བདག་ཀྱང་ཡོངས་སུ་འབུལ། །

khyö la dak kyang yongsu bul

I offer myself entirely to you.

སློབ་མར་བཟུང་ནས་སྤྱད་དུ་གསོལ། །

lobmar zung né ché du sol

Accept me as your student and I will follow your words in detail.
