A Lineage Prayer for the Profundity of the Three Roots of Longevity

རང་བྱུང་མི་ཤིགས་དྭངས་མ་ཚེ་དཔག་མེད། །

rangjung mishik dangma tsepakmé

Amitāyus, naturally-arisen, imperishable essence;

འོད་གསལ་སྣང་བ་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་སྙིང་རྗེའི་གཏེར། །

ösal nangwa lhündrub nyingjé ter

Radiant treasure of innate compassion;¹

རིགས་བརྒྱའི་ཁྱབ་བདག་མཚོ་སྐྱེས་རྡོ་རྗེ་ལ། །

rik gyé khyabdak tsokyé dorjé la

Lake-Born Vajra, supreme lord of all hundred families—

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་མཆོག་ཐུན་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

solwa deb so choktün ngödrub tsol

I beseech you: grant the siddhis, both common and supreme!

གསང་ཆེན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་འབྱུང་གནས་མཚོ་རྒྱལ་ཡུམ། །

sang chen chö kyi jungné tsogyal yum

Mother Tsogyal, wellspring of the profound hidden Dharma;

བསྟན་པའི་ཤིང་རྟ་འཇམ་མགོན་ཁྲི་ལྡེའི་ཞབས། །

tenpé shingta jam gön tri dé zhab

King Tri Songdetsen, gentle guardian and pioneer of the teachings;

རྒྱལ་སྲས་དམ་འཛིན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བློ་གྲོས་ལ། །

gyalsé dam dzin chökyi lodrö la

Prince Damdzin Chökyi Lodrö, heir of the king;

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་མཆོག་ཐུན་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

I beseech you: grant the siddhis, both common and supreme!

པདྨའི་རྒྱལ་ཚབ་མཆོག་གྱུར་བདེ་ཆེན་གླིང་། །

pemé gyaltsab chokgyur dechen ling

Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa, regent of the Lotus-Born Guru;

ཟབ་ཆོས་བཀའ་བབ་ལུང་ཟིན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བདག །

zab chö kabab lung zin chö kyi dak

Dharma Lord of profound direct transmission, foretold in prophecy;

ཡང་དག་ལམ་སྟོན་རྩ་བའི་བླ་མ་ལ། །

yangdak lam tön tsawé lama la

Root guru who guides us on the true path—

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་མཆོག་ཐུན་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

solwa deb so choktün ngödrub tsol

I beseech you: grant the siddhis, both common and supreme!

རྣམ་བཅས་བདེ་ཆེན་ཐིག་ལེ་རྟ་མཆོག་དཔལ། །

nam ché dechen tiklé tachok pal

Majestic Hayagrīva, embodiment of form's profound bliss;

རྣམ་མེད་སྟོང་ཉིད་དཔྱིད་དཔལ་ཕག་ཞལ་ཅན། །

nammé tongnyi chi pal pak zhalchen

Vajravārāhī, elegance of formless emptiness;

ཟུང་འཇུག་ཆོ་འཕྲུལ་རིགས་བཞིའི་མཁའ་འགྲོ་ལ། །

zungjuk chotrul rik zhi khandro la

Enchanting display of their unity, the four classes of ḍākinīs—

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་མཆོག་ཐུན་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

I beseech you: grant the siddhis, both common and supreme!

མཁྱེན་པའི་བྱིན་རླབས་རྩ་བ་བླ་མ་རྗེ། །

khyenpé jinlab tsawa lama jé

Sovereign gurus, the root of wisdom’s blessings;

བརྩེ་བའི་དངོས་གྲུབ་རྩ་བ་ཡི་དམ་ལྷ། །

tsewé ngödrub tsawa yidam lha

Yidam deities, the root of compassion’s siddhis;

ནུས་པའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་རྩ་བ་མཁའ་འགྲོ་མར། །

nüpé trinlé tsawa khandromar

Ḍākinīs, the root of powerful activities—

གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་མཆོག་ཐུན་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

solwa deb so choktün ngödrub tsol

I beseech you: grant the siddhis, both common and supreme!

རྡོ་རྗེའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྒྲིབ་པ་མེད་པར་ཞུགས། །

dorjé yeshe dribpa mepar zhuk

Without obscuration, may we merge with vajra wisdom!

ཚེ་དབང་མཆོག་ཐུན་ཐོགས་པ་མེད་པར་ཐོབ། །

tsewang choktün tokpa mepar tob

Without impediment, may we attain longevity empowerments, both common and supreme!

ལས་བཞིའི་འཕྲུལ་འཁོར་ཐོགས་པ་མེད་པར་འགྲུབ། །

lé zhi trulkhor tokpa mepar drub

Without restraint, may we master the yogas of the four activities!

རྩ་གསུམ་ངང་དུ་བརྡལ་ཁྱབ་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་ཤོག །

tsa sum ngang du dal khyab lhündrub shok

May we spontaneously accomplish the Three Roots!

སྟོང་ཉིད་དྲི་བྲལ་ཤེས་རབ་པདྨའི་ཀློང་། །

tongnyi dridral sherab pemé long

Emptiness is the lotus expanse of immaculate wisdom.

སྣང་བ་བདེ་ཆེན་འགྱུར་མེད་རྡོ་རྗེ་གཉིས། །

nangwa dechen gyurmé dorjé nyi

Appearance is the vajra of unwavering great bliss.

ཟུང་འཇུག་འོད་མི་འགྱུར་བའི་ཚེ་གྲུབ་ནས། །

zungjuk ö migyurwé tsé drub né

Their union is luminous everlasting life.

ཡེ་ཤེས་རོལ་པའི་འཁོར་ལོ་རབ་བསྐོར་ཤོག །

yeshe rolpé khorlo rab kor shok

Realizing this, may we turn the wheel of wisdom’s play!

རྡོ་རྗེ་བཙུན་མོའི་མཁའ་ཀློང་དཀྱིལ་འཁོར་དུ། །

dorjé tsünmö kha long kyilkhor du

May we actualize the four empowerments within the Vajra Queen’s vast maṇḍala,

དབང་བཞིས་སྨིན་པའི་རང་རིག་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས། །

wang zhi minpé rangrig changchub sem

And perfect the compassion of innate awareness.

རྩལ་ཆེན་རྫོགས་པའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་ཀུན་འབྱུང་བ། །

tsal chen dzokpé trinlé künjungwa

May thereby all enlightened activities naturally manifest,

མི་ཟད་རྒྱན་གྱི་གསང་བའི་མཛོད་འཛིན་ཤོག །

mizé gyen gyi sangwé dzö dzin shok

And the hidden treasure of limitless adornments be attained.

ཅེས་རྩ་གསུམ་ཚེའི་ཟབ་པའི་བརྒྱུད་འདེབས་འདིའང་། ཟབ་ཆོས་འདི་ཉིད་ཀྱི་བདག་པོ་དབོན་སྤྲུལ་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་བཀའ་གནང་ལྟར་པདྨ་གར་དབང་བློ་གྲོས་མཐའ་ཡས་ཀྱིས་དཔལ་སྤུངས་སྙིང་པོ་ཡིད་དགའ་ཆོས་འཛིན་ཏུ་སྦྱར་བ་དགེ་ལེགས་འཕེལ། །

At the behest of Öntrul Rinpoche, the custodian of this profound dharma, Pema Garwang Lodrö Tayé, composed this lineage prayer for The Profundity of the Three Roots of Longevity while staying in Palpung Nyingpo Yiga Chödzin. May virtue and excellence abound!
