Supplementary Texts for Mantra Recitation

according to the tradition of Dodrupchen Monastery

 

འཛབ་ལ་བབ་པ་ན། ཕྲེང་བ་བྱིན་རླབས་ནི།

Blessing the Mālā

ལག་པ་གཡོན་པའི་ནང་དུ་ཕྲེང་བ་སྦྲུལ་འཁྱིལ་བ་ལྟར་བསྐྱིལ་བའི་དབུས་སུ་མདོ་འཛིན་ཙོག་པུར་ཡོད་པར་བྱས་ལ།

When you arrive at the section for mantra recitation, place your mālā, coiled up like a snake, on the palm of your left hand, making sure that the main bead¹ stands upright in the middle.

ཨ་ཨཱ། ཨི་ཨཱི། ཨུ་ཨཱུ། རྀ་རཱྀ། ལྀ་ལཱྀ། ཨེ་ཨཻ། ཨོ་ཨཽ། ཨཾ་ཨ།

om yé dharma hetu prabhava hetun teshan tatagato hyavadat | teshan tsa yo nirodha evam vadi maha shramana soha

oṃ ye dharmā hetu prabhāvā hetuṃ teṣāṃ tathāgato hyavadat | teṣāṃ ca yo nirodha evaṃ vādī mahāśramaṇaḥ svāhā

ཨོཾ་རུ་ཙི་པྲ་མར་ཏ་ན་ཡེ་རཏྣ་མ་ཎི་དྷ་ར་ཛྙཱ་ན་དེ་ཝ་ཨ་བྷི་ཥིཉྩ་ཧཱུྃ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ༔

om rutsi pramar tana yé ratna mani dhara jnana deva abhikintsa hung soha

oṃ ruci pramartanaye ratna maṇi dhara jñāna deva abhiṣiñca hūṃ svāhā

ལན་གསུམ་མཐར།

ཨོཾ་སུ་པྲ་ཏིཥྛ་བཛྲ་ཡེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།

om supratita benza yé soha

oṃ supra tiṣṭha vajra ye svāhā

ཞེས་སྔགས་བཏབ་པའི་འབྲུ་ཕྲེང་བར་འཐོར་ནས་རང་རང་གི་བསྙེན་སྒྲུབ་ལ་འཇུག་གོ། །

Throw onto your mālā the seeds which have been blessed by the mantras, and then start your recitation of the approach and accomplishment phases.

མཚམས་སུ་སྟོང་ཚིགས་འབུལ་དགོས་ན།

At intervals, if necessary, recite the 'offering prayer recited after a thousand mantras':

ཧཱུྃ། ཡེ་ཤེས་ལྷ་ཚོགས་སྤྱན་འདྲེན་གཤེགས། །

hung, yeshe lhatsok chendren shek

Hūṃ. Assembly of wisdom deities, I invite you: please come!

ཕྱི་ནང་གསང་བའི་མཆོད་པ་འབུལ། །

chi nang sangwé chöpa bul

I offer you outer, inner and secret offerings.

སྐུ་གསུང་ཐུགས་ཡོན་ཕྲིན་ལས་བསྟོད། །

ku sung tuk yön trinlé tö

I praise your body, speech, mind, qualities and activity.

བག་མེད་འགལ་འཁྲུལ་ཉམས་ཆག་བཤགས། །

bakmé galtrul nyamchak shak

I confess my carelessness, transgressions, and confusions, impairments, and breakages.

མཆོག་དང་ཐུན་མོང་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ། །

chok dang tünmong ngödrub tsol

Grant me attainments, ordinary and supreme!

ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ཨརྒྷཾ་པཱ་དྱཾ་པུཥྤེ་དྷཱུ་པེ་ཨཱ་ལོ་ཀེ་གྷནྡྷེ་ནཻ་ཝེ་ཏྱཱ་ཤབྡ་སརྦ་པཉྩ་རཀྟ་བྷ་ལིངྟ་ཁཱ་ཧི། ཞེས་འབུལ།

om benza argham padyam pupé dhupé aloké ghandhé naiwitya shapta sarva pentsa rakta balingta khahi

oṃ vajra arghaṃ pādyaṃ puṣpe dhūpe āloke gandhe naivedye śabda sarva pañca rakta baliṃ te khāhi

Fulfilment of Wishes

༈ བཟླས་པའི་མཐར་ཁ་སྐོང་དང་འདོད་གསོལ་ནི།

At the end of the recitation, make amends and request the fulfilment of wishes.

ནད་གདོན་འཇིགས་བརྒྱད་ཤཱནྟིཾ་ཀུ་རུ་ཡེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།

nedön jikgyé shanting kuru yé soha

Disease, obstacles, the eight fears—shāntiṃ kuru ye svāhā.

ཚེ་བསོད་དཔལ་འབྱོར་པུཥྚིཾ་ཀུ་རུ་ཡེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།

tsé sö paljor pushtim kuru yé soha

Long life, merit, wealth and renown—puṣhṭiṃ kuru ye svāhā.

འཁོར་འདས་སྲིད་གསུམ་ཝཱ་ཤཾ་ཀུ་རུ་ཡེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།

khordé si sum washam kuru yé soha

Saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, the three realms—vāshaṃ kuru ye svāhā.

གནོད་བྱེད་དགྲ་བགེགས་མཱ་ར་ཡ་ཕཊ།

nöjé dragek maraya pé

Harmful spirits, enemies and obstructing forces—māraya phaṭ.

དབྱངས་གསལ་ཡིག་བརྒྱ་རྟེན་སྙིང་བཅས་ལན་གསུམ་བརྗོད་མཐར།

Recite the vowels and consonants, the hundred-syllable mantra and the mantra of the essence of interdependent origination three times. Then recite the corresponding prayer for each sādhana.

ཨ་ཨཱ། ཨི་ཨཱི། ཨུ་ཨཱུ། རྀ་རཱྀ། ལྀ་ལཱྀ། ཨེ་ཨཻ། ཨོ་ཨཽ། ཨཾ་ཨ།

For The Gathering of Vidyādharas (Rigdzin Düpa)

ཧོཿ རིག་འདུས་མ་ཧཱ་གུ་རུའི་དཀྱིལ་འཁོར་གྱི་ལྷ་ཚོགས་ཁྱེད་རྣམས་ལ།

ho, rikdü maha gurü kyilkhor gyi lhatsok khyé nam la

Hoḥ. Hosts of deities of the maṇḍala of the Mahāguru and the Gathering of Vidyādharas:

མཁྱེན་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས། བརྩེ་བའི་ཐུགས་རྗེ། མཛད་པའི་ཕྲིན་ལས།

khyenpé yeshe | tsewé tukjé | dzepé trinlé

Your omniscient, primordial wisdom, loving compassion, enlightened deeds and power to protect

སྐྱོབ་པའི་ནུས་མཐུ་བསམ་གྱིས་མི་ཁྱབ་པ་མངའ་བ་ལགས་པས།

kyobpé nütu sam gyi mi khyabpa ngawa lakpé

Are beyond the imagination. Therefore, please grant me and all sentient beings

བདག་སོགས་སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་སྒྲིབ་གཉིས་བག་ཆགས་དང་བཅས་པ་བྱང་ཞིང་དག་ནས་མཆོག་གི་དངོས་གྲུབ་རིག་འདུས་མ་ཧཱ་གུ་རུའི་གོ་འཕང་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་ཐོབ་པ་དང་།

dak sok semchen tamché kyi drib nyi bakchak dang chepa jang zhing dak né chok gi ngödrub rikdü maha gurü gopang ngönsum du tobpa dang

The ability to cleanse and purify the two obscurations and habitual tendencies, and to actually attain the supreme accomplishment of the perfection of the Mahāguru and the Gathering of Vidyādharas,

ཐུན་མོང་གི་དངོས་གྲུབ་ཕྲིན་ལས་རྣམ་པ་བཞི་གྲུབ་པ་དང་།

tünmong gi ngödrub trinlé nampa zhi drubpa dang

And the ordinary accomplishments of the four enlightened activities and the eight ordinary siddhis.

གྲུབ་པ་ཆེན་པོ་བརྒྱད་ལ་སོགས་པ་མཆོག་ཐུན་མོང་གཉིས་ཀྱི་དངོས་གྲུབ་དམ་པ་སྩོལ་བར་མཛད་དུ་གསོལ།

drubpa chenpo gyé lasokpa chok tünmong nyi kyi ngödrub dampa tsolwar dzé du sol

Grant us these excellent accomplishments!

དེ་ནས་མཆོད་ཕྲེང་ལ་འཇུག

Then continue with the offering garland.²

For The Awesome Ones’ Assembly (Palchen Düpa)

ཧོཿ དཔལ་ཆེན་པོ་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀློང་དགུའི་དཀྱིལ་འཁོར་གྱི་ལྷ་ཚོགས་ཁྱེད་རྣམས་ལ།

ho, palchenpo yeshe long gü kyilkhor gyi lhatsok khyé nam la

Hoḥ. Hosts of deities of the maṇḍala of the Awesome Ones of the nine wisdom spaces:

མཁྱེན་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས། བརྩེ་བའི་ཐུགས་རྗེ། མཛད་པའི་ཕྲིན་ལས།

khyenpé yeshe | tsewé tukjé | dzepé trinlé

Your omniscient, primordial wisdom, loving compassion, enlightened deeds and power to protect

སྐྱོབ་པའི་ནུས་མཐུ་བསམ་གྱིས་མི་ཁྱབ་པ་མངའ་བ་ལགས་པས།

kyobpé nütu sam gyi mi khyabpa ngawa lakpé

Are beyond the imagination. Therefore, please grant me and all sentient beings

The ability to cleanse and purify the two obscurations and habitual tendencies, and to attain in actuality the supreme accomplishment of the perfection of the Awesome Ones, the nine wisdom spaces,

ཐུན་མོང་གི་དངོས་གྲུབ་ཕྲིན་ལས་རྣམ་པ་བཞི་གྲུབ་པ་དང་།

tünmong gi ngödrub trinlé nampa zhi drubpa dang

And the ordinary accomplishments of the four enlightened activities and the eight ordinary siddhis.

གྲུབ་པ་ཆེན་པོ་བརྒྱད་ལ་སོགས་པ་མཆོག་ཐུན་མོང་གཉིས་ཀྱི་དངོས་གྲུབ་དམ་པ་སྩོལ་བར་མཛད་དུ་གསོལ།

drubpa chenpo gyé lasokpa chok tünmong nyi kyi ngödrub dampa tsolwar dzé du sol

Grant us these excellent accomplishments!

Hoḥ. Hosts of deities of the maṇḍala of the Vajra Queen, the Mother of the Victorious Ones,

མཁྱེན་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས། བརྩེ་བའི་ཐུགས་རྗེ། མཛད་པའི་ཕྲིན་ལས།

khyenpé yeshe | tsewé tukjé | dzepé trinlé

Your omniscient, primordial wisdom, loving compassion, enlightened deeds and power to protect

The ability to cleanse and purify the two obscurations and habitual tendencies and to attain in actuality the supreme accomplishment of the perfection of the Vajra Queen, Mother of the Victorious Ones,

ཐུན་མོང་གི་དངོས་གྲུབ་ཕྲིན་ལས་རྣམ་པ་བཞི་གྲུབ་པ་དང་།

tünmong gi ngödrub trinlé nampa zhi drubpa dang

Hoḥ. Hosts of deities of the maṇḍala of the supremely noble Great Compassionate One,

མཁྱེན་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས། བརྩེ་བའི་ཐུགས་རྗེ། མཛད་པའི་ཕྲིན་ལས།

khyenpé yeshe | tsewé tukjé | dzepé trinlé

Your omniscient, primordial wisdom, loving compassion, enlightened deeds and power to protect
