Prayer for a Monk from Amdo¹

སྐྱབས་གནས་ཀུན་འདུས་སློབ་དཔོན་རྣམ་གཉིས། །སློབ་དཔོན་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་དང་བི་མ་མི་ཏྲ།

kyabné kündü loppön nam nyi

Embodiment of all refuges—the two ācāryas,²

བཀའ་དྲིན་སུམ་ལྡན་རྩ་བའི་བླ་མ། །

kadrin sumden tsawé lama

The root guru endowed with threefold kindness,

རེ་ས་ཁྱོད་ལས་གཞན་དུ་མེད་དོ། །

resa khyö lé zhen du mé do

I have no other hope but you!

བདག་ཏུ་འཛིན་པའི་འཆིང་བ་བཀྲོལ་ནས། །

dak tu dzinpé chingwa tröl né

Free me from the bondage of self-clinging!

སྟོང་ཉིད་སྙིང་རྗེ་ཟུང་དུ་འཇུག་པའི། །

tongnyi nyingjé zungdu jukpé

Bless me, that I may realize

ཡང་དག་རྟོགས་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག །

yangdak tokpar chingyi lob shik

The genuine state—the unity of emptiness and compassion!

ཅེས་བདག་ཨ་མདོ་བནྡེས་ཞུས་ནས་གཏེར་ཆེན་བླ་མས་མཛད་པ་སེམས་ངོ་ཤེས་པའི་གསོལ་འདེབས་བྱིན་རླབས་ཅན་ཡིན། །

The great treasure-revealing guru wrote this inspired prayer to recognize the nature of mind at the request of a monk from Amdo.
